Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on September 02, 1986. Paul was born by C-section, when he started crying I looked at Mike and said he sounded just like a fawn. Mike said he thought the same thing but did not want to say anything because he thought I would say that all he thought about was hunting. When I first looked at Paul and saw those big brown eyes my first thought was that he was going to have eye problems (he had glasses by time he was 10 years old).
They took Paul down to the nursery right away, telling me they would bring him to surgery recovery for me to nurse him. About half an hour after I got to recovery, the phone rang and I knew something was wrong with Paul. They came and told me that he had stopped breathing, which they said was common for c-section babies. They had to put Paul into a oxygen tent. Mikey got to go into the nursery and see Paul, he stuck his hands in the little gloves and touched Paul. I did not get to hold Paul until he was about 8 hours old. |

Mikey, Paul and I spent a week on a road trip out East.
First we went to Sea World in Cincinnati, OH. We had a great time. We watched the Orcas and got all wet. Then we went by the dolphins and watched them, we even got to touch them. It started to storm while we were there. We had gone into the shark house and the power went out. The emergency lights kicked on so we went out and into the gift shop. We got soaking wet, but we had a blast.
Second, we went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. We had fun looking at all the fun football stuff there. Paul was a Philadelphia Eagle fan at the time, and Reggie White played for the eagles.
Third, we went to the Hershey Plant in Hershy, PA. When we drove into the parking lot it smelled like hot fudge brownies. We took a ride through the plant and saw how the chocolate is made. We have a very nice picture from there.
Fourth, we went to Philadelphia, PA. We were early getting to our hotel, so we asked the desk clerk for directions to the nearest mall we could go to to try to find an Eagles t-shirt for Paul. She sent us about 4 miles down the road. When we got into the mall we doubled the white population. When we got back out to the car we all agreed, now we know what it feels like for a black person in the mall in Green Bay. We even got to see (and get pictures of) Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia, where the Eagles used to play.
Fifth, we went to Atlantic City, NJ. We drove into town, then turned around and drove right back out. We went to a small town close by called Ocean City, NJ and played in the Atlantic Ocean for hours. Paul and Mikey had a great time.
Then, we started back home. We stopped in Fredericksburg, MD, WV, and Ft. Wayne, IN.
We stayed in hotels with pools and hot tubs, which Paul and Mikey just loved. They really enjoy playing in the pools.
It was a wonderful trip and we had a great time. |

Mike, Mikey, Paul, and I went to an Alice Cooper concert at the Outagamie County Fair in Seymour, WI. We got there fairly early, which allowed us to stand only about 40 feet from the stage. For only $8 per person, you can't ask for any better seats.
Alice played many of his old classics, plus some of his new stuff. On stage he did all sorts of stuff including staging a murder, holding a large snake, and acting out all the songs he sung. Paul and Mikey had the greatest time. After the concert, Paul said this event was the most fun he ever had in his entire life.
For my birthday following the concert, Paul bought me an Alice Cooper CD, which has been played more than any CD I own. |

On New Year's Eve, I had to appearance to make as Mrs. Wisconsin U.S. Beauties. The first was at a Green Bay Gambler Hocky game. I was able to get the boys into the Human Sphere Race. Paul tried so hard to beat Mikey, but Mikey was just too strong and overpowered him behind the net. They still won a bunch of Taco Bell (one of Paul's favorite places to eat) coupons and $10 gift certificates (each) for Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar. Then at the 2nd intermission Mike and I went out on the ice to count down the Chuck a Puck contest. Paul had a ball taking pictures.
After the game we went to The Bar to ring in the new year. We were there as guests of a local radio station, 106.7 The Eagle (Paul's favorite station). We passed out can coolers and listened to a local band. Paul had a great time, he loved music.
Little did we know of the unfolding tragedy going on at Paul's bests friends house.
Paul's best friend, Timmy Flanigan had died in a car accident that afternoon. We had to detour because of the accident, but we did not see it. We read about it in the newspaper the next day, and Paul recognized Timmy's car right away.
This was the hardest thing that Paul ever had to deal with. He had a very difficult time, but was working through this with the help of family and friends. |

This was our last night with Paul.
When I got home from work, Paul wanted to go for a bike ride. We rode to Timmy's grave to visit Timmy for a little while. We walked around and talked about the other people we saw buried there, and how silly it is to buy a piece of land to just lie in. Then on our way home we talked about him having a New Year's Eve party. He said, "Oh, by the way, I will not be home on New Year's Eve because I am having a party for all of Tim's friends, whether they like it of not." And I told him he could even have it at our house if he wanted to.
Then we rode along and I asked him if he was going to car pool with Sarah to college. He said their schedules really did not work out, but they would try to sometimes. I told him Mikey and I had car pooled even though our schedules were not exact, we just used the extra time to study or play on the computers.
A little bit later we talked about him working at Walmart once he started school. He said he was probably going to tell them he could work certain Monday & Wednesday afternoons. I joked with him that he needed to work there at least through Xmas so we could get every one's presents from the WalMart (insert southern drawl). We laughed at that thought.
Then I asked if he remembered to take the weekend of August 20th off for the Mrs. U.S. Beauties national pageant. He said he was going to ask the next week, because he did not want to go right back and ask for more time off right away. I told him that made sense.
We continued to ride along, and talked about every day stuff. Paul loved riding his bike, especially when the whole family was involved.
After we got back, Paul wanted a haircut, I cut his hair. Then he went on the computer while I made supper.
When Mike came home, we ate and then went for another bike ride. Mike & I were talking about the upcoming pageant and the fact that we better get some practicing in, especially for the talent competition. Paul said I should make cheese or milk a cow. I told him Diane would probably not appreciate it if I brought a cow on stage, so he said I should milk a cat. We all had a good laugh at that.
Later Paul said he did not want to go back to work the next day, and I just told him nobody ever wants to go back after being off for 2 weeks. He just gave me a little grin and nod.
After a while he seemed to get tired and start to lag behind us. After all, this was his second bike ride of the night and he had just been through surgery less than 2 weeks prior. I asked if he was tired and he just gave that little smile and nod again.
After we got home we did the normal nightly stuff and went to bed. Little did we know that would be the last time we would ever see Paul's smile and hear his voice. |

Paul,
You and grandpa were missed greatly this Christmas. Mikey bought you a video and we got you an ornament for your tree. Do you see the tree we put up in your room with all your ornaments on it, do you like it? I hope you like your pinball ornament I got you, it just reminded me so much of all the times we would sit on the couch and pass the computer back and forth playing pinballl.
Mikey got us the most beautiful picture (which he said you helped pay for with the money that was left in your paypall account). It is one of your graduation pictures with Fetch, and surrounding you is an animal to represent each of us; a buck for dad, dolphins for me, a turkey for Mikey, and an eagle for you. Mikey also put a small eagle into each of the pictures (except yours) to represent the fact that you are always with us. It is absolutely beautiful, which I am sure you know
We miss you so much sweetie. Please keep looking over us, and visit any time your want.
Love Always,
Mom, Dad, Mikey & Fetch |

Well, Paulie, it is the new year. What a tough day on New Year's Eve knowing that you had been planning to have a party for all of Timmy's friends. I hope you and Timmy had your own party, with fireworks and a campfire. I know you two are together doing many things. Are you are grandpa doing much fishing, like you told Jessie? I hope you are all happy and healthy together.
It is hard to imagine a new year without your smile and wit. Threre are so many things we used to do together that I just can not seem to bring myself to do. I can't seem to get happy about anything, let alone a new year without you.
We all miss you every day of the year.
Tell Timmy and Grandpa "Hi, and that we love them both very much". |
