Paul's Tree
The day after Paul died, his Uncle Bob brought us an 18-year old oak tree for Paul. The next day the whole family (including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins) went up to our cabin to plant the tree. We all took turns digging the hole for the tree. Under the tree we placed Paul's obituary and Timmy's memorial card.
We have put several very meaningful items by the tree, such as:
- An angel boy that Paul's cousins bought him.
- A post with a miniture red Honda Fourtrax 300 4-wheeler on it; one of Paul's favorite past times was to ride that 4-wheeler. The post also has an Apple computer sticker on it, and a plaque honoring Paul.
- A turtle that Paul gave me for Mother's Day this year. He was so excited to give it to me that he could not wait for Mike and Mikey to come home to give it to me. I love that turtle, it always reminds me of Paul's beautiful smile when he gave it to me.

Memorial Bricks
There will be two organizations that will have memorial bricks for Paul.
The Bay Area Humane Society, in Green Bay, will have a brick at the shelter. It will be a couple of months before the brick is put out, please remember to watch for Paul's brick and remember all the good things he did for the shelter.
The NEW Zoo in Suamico, WI will have a brick near the white-tail deer exhibit. It will read "Paul, we will never forget all the wonderful times. Love Mom, Dad, and Mikey." This brick will not be put into place until June 2006. Please take the time to go see, and remember, Paul.

Volunteering
Paul loved to volunteer. It was a good thing, because I often volunteered him to help at different events such as Fur Ball & Pet Walk for the Bay Area Humane Society. He loved helping out there too, we even went to help walk dogs one time. He was always protecting me from the big dogs. :)
I was Mrs. Wisconsin U.S. Beauties 2005, and I did many appearances for local charities. Paul went with me to most of my appearances; mostly to take pictures. but he never minded jumping in and helping out whereever they needed him. We went to the Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society, and they were having a "Dude Looks Like a Lady" contest. where guys dressed up like girls and took donations. Whomever recieved the most donations in their purse was the "winner." I crowned the winner, and Paul took a bunch of pictures. He thought it was hilarious and called them his "blackmail" pictures.
We seemed to be going to an appearances at least twice a month, but Paul never complained about it. He always seemed to have a good time helping others. We did everything from registering participants at walks, to giving out medals at kids runs, to helping photograpers, and even being a runner with the money at events.
One event in particular enjoyed was Fur Ball for the Bay Area Humane Society. He always volunteered with his cousin Jessie at this event, and they always found time to go ride around in the car and goof around. They just loved their time together.
We will all miss Paul when it comes time to volunteer at these events.
See the Photo Album for some pictures of different events we volunteered at.

Paul's Smile
Paul's legacy will always be his smile. He was always willing to give a smile to anyone, no matter how he felt.
We even had a lady come to his memorial service that never actually met Paul. But she had gone to Subway one day when Paul was there. She was having a bad day, and Paul caught her eye and gave her a nice smile and a wave. She went to her car and thought "what kind of nice person would do that for someone they did not even know." She saw his obituary in the paper and came to his memorial service to write in his memory book about how he changed her day.
This is just one example of how Paul's smile was definitely his legacy.
